A Note from the Author

Welcome to the website for my previously published cookbook, LegalEats, A Lawyer's Lite Cookbook (LE)!

This website is long overdue, considering I first starting promoting the cookbook back in 2001 shortly after it was published and first launched at the State Bar of GA Annual Meeting held on Kiawah Island, SC. A lot has changed over the years but, the premise behind LE never changed - to cook quick, healthy recipes using the freshest ingredients...

About The Book

LegalEats is a unique and creative cookbook by a lawyer for lawyers (and other lean and mean legal types) organized in a tongue-in-cheek fashion using a take-off of "legalese" to describe the recipes and features cute lawyer cartoons and quotes to amuse the reader. Both the recipes and the tone of the cookbook are on the light side, featuring recipes personally adapted by the author, a lawyer and gourmet food enthusiast, who creates great tasting lighter versions of some favorite dishes such as Legal Lasagna, Libelously Light Strawberry Cheesecake and Prosecutor's Pizza (made with fresh dough that you pound down like your worst adversary). LegalEats is a rare treat for the lawyer and other legal types in your life who are looking to lighten up, which makes it a great novelty gift. Those who purchase LegalEats can feel good knowing that a portion of the author's profits from the sale of the cookbooks will be donated to various legal service programs. Whether you spend time in the kitchen, the courtroom, the boardroom, the classroom or the office, remember to always keep it light and enjoy LegalEats, A Lawyer's Lite Cookbook!

About Flavia

Flavia is a lawyer/gourmet food enthusiast turned cookbook author (and native New Yorker who's been residing in the Atlanta, GA area for so many years she almost drawls and barks. Go Dawgs)!!

Flavia received her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Fordham University - (back when disco was still king)! She first became a member of the New York State Bar and practiced law in New York City briefly before relocating to the Atlanta area in the late 1980's (to follow a handsome soon-to-be husband who was residing in Atlanta). After relocating South (and a mild case of culture shock - she had to drive everywhere and there was no GPS!), she became a member of the State Bar of GA. Following years of legal stints with law firms, the federal government and the private in-house sector, she took a sabbatical from the practice of law by writing and marketing LegalEats after an inspiring trip to Italy (the home of her ancestors).

Flavia always enjoyed experimenting with light and healthy recipes throughout the years with thoughts of one day writing a fun cookbook targeted to the legal community. For Flavia, there was only one possible name for her cookbook project - LegalEats, A Lawyer's Lite Cookbook. The cookbook was first published by iUniverse and has been widely available since early 2001. Flavia's glad the LegalEats cookbook website is finally a reality so even more lean and mean types can get to enjoy it.

Flavia and her husband relocated from Atlanta to the Charlotte, NC area in 2006  and then several years later they relocated back to Atlanta where they currently reside. And her husband, (who is quite the grill master), happily gets to taste test all her recipes firsthand in exchange for all his fine food photos.
